Snowboard Heist in Tahoe: Tips to Keep Your Gear Safe

Imagine the fresh powder under your board, the adrenaline pumping through your veins… then picture the sinking feeling of a snowboard heist in Tahoe. That’s exactly what happened to two unlucky riders at Boreal Ski Resort.

These two snowboarders at Boreal Ski Resort left their boards unattended, which led to one of their boards vanishing. Don’t let the same happen to you!

They left their snowboards in the snowboard rack just outside the ticket area.

But fifteen minutes later their precious snowboard vanished from the rack. Yikes!

Panic set in, but they didn’t give up. They scoured the area, hoping for a miracle.

And guess what? They found it! It was in the bed of a truck… with three suspiciously shady characters hanging around.

Thankfully, these brave riders managed to reclaim the board, but not before one of them got roughed up by the alleged thieves.

Talk about a bad case of winter blues!

But here’s the good news: the cops arrived in record time after the victims called 911, these snowboard thieves were promptly arrested, and justice, sweet justice, prevailed.

All three are now enjoying a cozy stay at Wayne Brown Correctional Facility.

Keeping Your Gear Safe

This near-miss snowboard heist in Tahoe serves as a stark reminder: equipment theft happens at Tahoe resorts.

Don’t let it happen to you! Here are some tips to keep your gear safe and your winter stoked:

Lock it Down: Invest in sturdy locks designed for snow equipment and chain your boards to secure racks or structures. Make those thieves work for their lunch!

Stash it Smart: Take advantage of on-site storage options at the resort. Lockers and designated storage areas are your friends.

Visibility Matters: Park your gear in well-lit, high-traffic areas. Thieves prefer the shadows, not the spotlight.

Stand Out from the Crowd: Personalize your boards with stickers, paint, or whatever floats your boat. This makes them harder to steal and easier to spot in a sea of generic shred sticks.

Think Homeward Bound: If your accommodation is nearby, consider storing your gear there overnight. Your room is a much safer haven than a crowded resort rack.

Be a Good ski Buddy: Keep an eye on each other’s gear during breaks and lunch runs. Teamwork makes the powder dream work, and keeps the bad guys at bay!

Remember, prevention is key to a happy (and gear-filled) winter season. So, shred the slopes with confidence, knowing your trusty snowboard is safe from the threat of another snowboard heist in Tahoe.
