Quick answer: Palisades Tahoe Lodge, formerly Squaw Valley Lodge, is a ski-in/ski-out condo property at the base of Palisades Tahoe in Olympic Valley. Its 218 privately owned condos range from studios to three bedrooms, and most have a mini or full kitchen. Guests get a summer pool, hot tubs, a health club, a sauna, a steam room and tennis courts, but pets aren’t allowed.

If you’re coming to North Lake Tahoe to ski or snowboard, Palisades Tahoe Lodge puts you about as close to the lifts as you can sleep. You may still see it listed as Squaw Valley Lodge. It took its new name after the ski resort changed its name from Squaw Valley to Palisades Tahoe in 2021.

The lodge sits at 201 Shirley Canyon Road, steps from the lifts at the Olympic Valley base. The shops, restaurants and bars in the Village at Palisades Tahoe are a few minutes away on foot.

Palisades Tahoe puts Reno about 42 miles away. If you’d rather not drive, the North Lake Tahoe Express runs an airport shuttle between Reno-Tahoe International Airport and North Lake Tahoe lodging, and the lodge’s rental company points guests to it.

This isn’t a full-service hotel. Each condo belongs to a private owner, so the decor changes from one unit to the next. Granite Peak Management runs the on-site rental program, and you pick up your keys at the lodge’s front desk, which is open 24 hours.

Rooms and Amenities

The lodge has 218 condos, from studios and studios with lofts up to three-bedroom units. Most have a mini or full kitchen, which helps, because the lodge doesn’t serve breakfast.

In winter, the ski-in/ski-out location is the big draw. You can walk out to the lifts in the morning and ski back to the lodge at the end of the day.

After a day on the mountain, you can warm up in the indoor and outdoor hot tubs. In summer, the heated outdoor pool is open from Memorial Day weekend through the end of September.

Fitness Center

The health club has a fitness center and a hydrotherapy spa, and it’s open from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.

For meals, most guests cook in their condo or walk over to the Village at Palisades Tahoe. It’s the hub of the resort, with restaurants, shops and bars a few minutes from the lodge.
