Quick answer: Margaritaville Resort Lake Tahoe, formerly the Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel, is a 399-suite resort at 4130 Lake Tahoe Boulevard in South Lake Tahoe, about a two-minute walk from the Heavenly Gondola. It reopened under the Margaritaville name in December 2023 after a full renovation, and it’s still the only all-suite hotel in South Lake Tahoe. Expect five bars and restaurants, an indoor heated pool and hot tub, valet-only parking and a daily resort fee, and dogs up to 30 pounds are welcome for a fee.

If you’re planning to ski Heavenly, it’s hard to beat this location. The resort says the Heavenly Gondola is about 150 yards from the door, a two-minute walk.

The lake shore is about a ten-minute walk away. The resort does warn that the walk back is uphill, which you’ll notice after a long beach day.

Until late 2023, this building was the Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel. Margaritaville renovated it top to bottom and opened it under the new name on December 14, 2023, so older reviews and photos may show the hotel as it used to be.

It’s still the only all-suite hotel in South Lake Tahoe. Every room is a suite with a separate bedroom and living area, and every suite looks out at the lake or the mountains.

Lake Tahoe Hotel Azure is also worth checking if you’re looking to take advantage of luxury amenities.

Spacious and Comfortable

Suites run from about 510 square feet for a king suite to 1,239 square feet for the two-bedroom, two-bath Still in Paradise Suite.

Each suite comes with a mini-fridge, coffee maker, Smart TV, in-room safe, two bathrobes, a hairdryer and high-speed internet.

For a room with a view, look at the Good Vibes Suite. It has an in-room fireplace and a private balcony overlooking Lake Tahoe.

Families and groups can book the Two Bedroom Family Suite, which is two connected suites that sleep six.

Pool, Dining and Things to Do

The indoor heated pool and hot tub are open from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. for all ages, and adults 18 and over can stay until midnight. There’s also a fitness center on the second floor near the pool deck, and free yoga on Saturday and Sunday mornings at 9:00.

The resort has five bars and restaurants, plus in-room dining. JWB Prime Steak and Seafood is the steakhouse, and LandShark Bar & Grill serves burgers, fish tacos and seafood, with an outdoor deck and firepits when the weather cooperates.

License to Chill Bar is the lobby bar by the fireplace. Come Monday Café serves breakfast seven days a week, including a buffet, and Joe Merchant’s Coffee & Provisions has coffee, pastries and snacks to go.

The resort also hosts live music, movie nights by the pool, a LandShark happy hour and après-ski firepits, depending on the season. Check the resort’s events calendar before you go, because the lineup changes through the year.

If you remember Echo Restaurant and the free evening appetizers from the Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel days, those aren’t part of the Margaritaville lineup.
