Quick answer: Caesars Republic Lake Tahoe, formerly Harveys Lake Tahoe, is a 740-room hotel and casino at 18 Highway 50 in Stateline, Nevada. The resort took its new name on July 1, 2025, and celebrated its grand opening on July 6, 2026, after a $200 million renovation. It’s about a five-minute walk from the Heavenly Gondola, it connects to Harrah’s Lake Tahoe by an underground walkway, and it welcomes dogs in designated rooms for a fee.
If you’ve been coming to South Lake Tahoe for years, you probably know this place by its old name. Caesars Entertainment changed the name to Caesars Republic Lake Tahoe on July 1, 2025, and then spent the next year renovating the guest rooms and public spaces.
The finished resort had its grand opening on July 6, 2026. Caesars puts the total cost of the makeover at $200 million, so older reviews and photos may show a very different place.
The history goes back a long way. The business started in 1944 as a small café and gas station with three slot machines, and Caesars calls it the oldest ongoing casino operation at Lake Tahoe. Today it’s the lake’s largest casino.
The resort sits on Highway 50 right at the state line, across the highway from Harrah’s Lake Tahoe. An underground walkway connects the two, so you can walk between them in about two minutes without stepping outside.
Lots of Exciting Games
The casino floor is open 24 hours a day. Caesars lists about 750 slot and video poker machines, along with blackjack, roulette, craps, Pai Gow Poker, Mini Baccarat and Let It Ride.

Poker players have a World Series of Poker Room. Caesars lists its hours as Wednesday through Sunday, 2:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., and says they can change with the season. There’s also a High Limit Room, and the Caesars Race and Sportsbook is on the casino floor.

Rooms at Caesars Republic
Caesars Republic has 740 rooms and suites in two towers. The Remus Tower, which used to be the Mountain Tower, was fully remodeled in the first phase of the renovation. The Romulus Tower, the former Tahoe Tower, got a refresh after an earlier full remodel in 2020.
Select rooms in both towers look out at the lake or the mountains. Every room has a flat-screen TV, and Wi-Fi comes with the daily resort fee. Coffee makers are standard in Romulus rooms, and you can ask for one in Remus.
Pool, Dining and Entertainment
The High Dive Pool and Lounge is a heated outdoor pool on the third floor, with hot tubs, cabanas and day beds. It’s for hotel guests only, and there’s no lifeguard on duty. The fitness center is right next to it.
There’s no spa on site. Guests walk through the underground walkway to Reflections Spa at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe.
For dinner, you can choose Gordon Ramsay Hell’s Kitchen, Wolf by Vanderpump or the Sage Room Steak House. Cleo’s Coffee and Cocktails in the lobby is a café in the morning and a cocktail lounge at night. El Jefe’s Cantina Tahoe, the taco and fajita spot, was listed as temporarily closed when we checked in October 2026.
Tessie’s Cocktails & Chords is the live music lounge, which opened in July 2026. Next door, the Lake Tahoe Amphitheatre at Caesars Republic hosts the summer concert series from June through September.
Close to Heavenly Ski
Caesars says the Heavenly Gondola is about a five-minute walk, and Lakeside Beach is about ten minutes away on foot. If you’re here to ski in winter or swim in summer, you can leave the car parked for most of your trip.
Caesars Rewards Club
Caesars Rewards is free to join. You earn credits on gaming, hotel stays and dining here and at Harrah’s, and you can redeem them across the Caesars Entertainment family of resorts.
Higher tiers come with perks at this resort. Platinum members and above park free, and Diamond and Seven Stars members skip the resort fee on one room per stay.
Know Before You Book
Check-in is at 4:00 p.m. and checkout is at 11:00 a.m.
The daily resort fee covers the fitness center, Wi-Fi and local calls. Caesars shows the current amount when you book.
Self-parking and valet are both available around the clock. Caesars doesn’t list the rates on its FAQ page, so check them when you book. The garage clearance is 6 feet 9 inches, and oversized vehicles use a separate lot behind self-parking.
Dogs are welcome in PetStay rooms on the fifth floor, up to two dogs per room with a combined weight of 50 pounds. The fee is $75 per night plus tax, with a $75 nightly hold on your card, and you can’t leave your dog alone in the room.
Smoking rooms are on designated floors in both towers, and the restaurants are non-smoking. If you smoke in a non-smoking room, Caesars charges a $250 cleaning fee.
