Lake Tahoe Travel Tips is free to read, and I want to keep it that way. The site pays for itself in two ways: affiliate links and display ads. This page explains both, so you always know when I might earn money from something you click or see here.
What an Affiliate Link Is
Some links on this site go to travel companies I work with. If you click one of those links and then book a hotel, a vacation rental or a tour, the company may pay me a small commission.
You don’t pay anything extra. The price is the same whether you use my link or go to the company’s site directly.
Affiliate Programs I Use
I currently earn commissions through these programs:
- Viator, for tours and activities
- Booking.com, for hotels and other lodging
- Vrbo, through Stay22, for vacation rentals. Stay22 provides some of the lodging links and maps you see on the site.
If I join another program, I’ll add it to this list.
Display Ads
This site also shows display ads, including ads served by Google. Those ads are chosen by the ad network, not by me, and seeing an ad here doesn’t mean I recommend the product or business. Ad networks may use cookies to show ads based on your interests. You can read more in our Privacy Policy.
How I Choose What to Recommend
I’ve lived in the Lake Tahoe region for seven years and visited several times a year for decades before that, and I write about places I know or have researched carefully. A commission never decides what goes on this site.
We earn commissions from affiliate links (Viator, Booking.com and Vrbo via Stay22) and display ads. We have never accepted sponsorships, sponsored posts or paid reviews.
Prices, availability, cancellation rules and amenities change often, and I don’t control them. Please check the current details on the booking site before you pay.
How You’ll Know
Posts with affiliate links have a short note near the top saying so. Affiliate links are also tagged in the page code so search engines know they are paid links.
